Common MAC Space Strategy as a Reference for the Development of Transregional RIS3 Strategies

Aim of the project

The main objective of RIS3_NET2 is to make the MAC Area a benchmark for the development and effective implementation of a Transregional Smart Specialisation Strategy, supporting other regions, especially the ORs, in developing joint RIS3s and boosting their growth in R&D&I.

The aim is to encourage the collaboration of society in the MAC area, highlighting the importance of knowledge and the implications of a RIS3, as well as the existence and relevance of the Transregional Intelligent Specialisation Strategy – RIS3 MAC, in order to achieve greater alignment of projects with established development priorities, greater participation by these regions in cooperation projects, among other basic actions for development based on cooperation in RDI.

Impact on the Azores Region

The RIS3_Net 2 project aims to accompany the European Agenda for Intelligent Specialisation – S4, promoting regional and trans-regional cooperation, the transfer of technology and knowledge, as well as better implementation of RIS3 Azores, contributing to public science, technology and innovation policies.

FRCT and DRCT integrate RIS3_Net 2 as beneficiaries, being responsible for the implementation of the project in the Azores, as well as for its articulation with the implementation processes of RIS3 Azores. FRCT is responsible, with support from ACIISI, ITC, and ARDITI, for Activity 2.2.3: Advanced training program in the management of Transregional Strategies for Intelligent Specialization.

Results

The project aims to advance the development and practical implementation of the actions identified in the Smart Specialisation Strategy for the MAC Area – RIS3 MAC, finalised under the RIS3_NET project (MAC/5.11a/075) and funded under the previous call. To this end, it will promote interregional cooperation on Smart Specialisation in the MAC Area through follow-up actions. It will develop a framework of indicators adapted to the collaboration area, as well as a tool to obtain information from the regions that make up the consortium and evaluate their progress.
