Implementing gender equality plans to unlock the research potential of RPOs and RFOs in Europe

Aim of the project

The project aims to support Research Development Organizations (RPOs) and Research Finance Organizations (RFOs), both in the development and in the implementation of Gender Equality Plans (GEPs) with the aim of generating systemic institutional changes.

The implementation of the Gender Equality Plans will strengthen the gender in research programs and also unlock this potential in the countries involved in the project, as well as improve the performance of this area in universities and other organizations, contributing to the objectives of the European Research Area.

The project aims to remove barriers to recruitment and career progression of researchers, include and strengthen the gender dimension in research programs and address gender imbalances in decision-making. To achieve these objectives properly, the support of the highest level of management of the organizations implementing the Gender Plans (GEPs) is required.

Impact on the Azores Region

The FRCT by integrating this project promotes the implementation of Gender Plans, with the aim of removing barriers to recruitment and career progression of researchers through Gender Plans, promotes greater social and gender justice in the Region in the Scientific System of the Azores.
On the other hand, with Horizon Europe, gender plans become a selection criterion for public institutions to integrate funded projects, so this project meets a regional need for regional organizations to continue to be eligible and competitive to integrate Horizon Europe projects.
