Results & Impact

This PhD project aims to develop an industrial-scale production process for a cyanobacteria toxin, optimizing cultivation, extraction, and purification for high yield and cost-efficiency. The commercial impact is significant—it establishes a scalable biotech supply chain for cyanobacteria, enabling their use as high-value reference standards, bioactive compounds, or raw materials for antifouling agents, biosensors, or pharmaceutical research. By overcoming production bottlenecks, this work creates new market opportunities in blue biotechnology while supporting industries reliant on cyanotoxin-based solutions.
