A3MAtlantic

Strengthen the sustainable growth and competitiveness of the SMEs that comprise the productive fabric of the Blue Economy sectors in the Central Atlantic

Aim of the project

The A3MAtlantic project, which follows on from the SmartBlueF initiative and aims to drive innovation and internationalization among Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Central Atlantic regions, with a strong focus on the blue economy. To achieve this goal, pilot actions will be implemented, and joint solutions will be developed, involving the active participation of the quadruple helix—businesses, academia, government, and civil society—fostering strategic and multidisciplinary collaborations.

This initiative seeks to strengthen the A3M Alliance in Europe, adapting blue economy policies to regional specificities while boosting the competitiveness and internationalization of SMEs.

The A3MAtlantic project aims to promote sustainable growth and competitiveness among SMEs in the Central Atlantic, reinforcing the blue economy in the Azores. To this end, the project focuses on three key areas:

  1. Implementation of a strategic positioning agenda, with joint actions and solutions from A3M and strategic development plans for the blue economy;
  2. Development of pilot actions and innovation solutions, strengthening SMEs through the engagement of the quadruple helix; and
  3. Promotion of the internationalization of regional companies, expanding their presence in global markets.

Impact on the Azores Region

As a project partner, FRCT aims to foster innovation, internationalization, and interregional cooperation, strengthening the connection between research and business development. This initiative further establishes the Azores as a strategic hub for the blue economy in the Atlantic.
