WiderAdvance Facility

Dissemination and Exploitation Facility for Widening projects

Aim of the project

The WiderAdvance Facility project aims to support knowledge valorization in Widening countries and Outermost Regions (ORs) by promoting the exploitation of research results financed through Horizon Europe and bridging regional innovation and research capacity gaps.

The project seeks to accelerate the maturation and dissemination of Key Exploitable Results (KERs) to enhance the competitiveness of the participating regions. It brings together a network of European National Contact Points within a consortium of 17 partners from 14 countries, including Poland, Italy, Greece, Malta, Portugal, Tunisia, France, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Armenia, Spain, and the ORs of the Azores, the Canary Islands, and Réunion Island.

Services and activities of the WiderAdvance Facility:

  • Individual Academies – designed to train researchers and institutions with the goal of maximizing the impact of research results.
  •  Training and Capacity Building – organization of webinars, training modules, study visits, and networking events to foster skill development and facilitate synergies between researchers, innovation managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support for Dissemination and Exploitation – structured support to ensure that research results reach key industry sectors and policymakers.

The WiderAdvance Facility project has a direct impact on the involved regions, enhancing their visibility and access to strategic networks, while also facilitating funding synergies.

Impact on the Azores Region

The Regional Fund for Science and Technology (FRCT), as the regional contact point, leads Task 3.1, focusing on mapping funding opportunities for Widening countries and ORs. This task aims to identify synergies between European funds, such as the Horizon Europe, ERDF, RRF, and ESF, along with regional funds, to support WiderAdvance Facility beneficiaries securing complementary funding and maximizing project’s results impact.

The involvement of the Azores Autonomous Region in the WiderAdvance Facility project strengthens the internationalization of its Research and Innovation Ecosystem, expands its access to strategic networks, and fosters new partnerships within the European Research Area (ERA).
