Objectives:
- Identify traces of human activity preserved in the sedimentary record to determine the date human settlements were established in the Azores archipelago;
- Unravel the role of anthropogenic and climate forcings, quantifying environmental changes through geochemical methods;
- Reconstruct Late Holocene local/regional precipitation changes. Provide additional data for climate reconstructions and modelling at the time of early human settlements on the Azores archipelago.
